Supporting parents and caregivers with homeschooling

It’s a testing time for parents and caregivers. The nation is being asked to give their best efforts to simultaneously homeschool children, meet work deadlines, run a household, abide by lockdown rulings, and many other demands – all without a roadmap and trying to stay calm amid the uncertainty.

Channelling our passion for education and inspiring the next generation, we’ve set up a Homeschooling section within our Learning Hub on our Refurbo website to help ease the load. This is a place for parents and caregivers to find resources that will assist with homeschooling. Serving as a bank of free resources that can be drawn on for some extra support while homeschooling, we will keep building it up over time.

To kick things off, we’ve teamed up with Bonny Murray, a teacher in Guernsey (Channel Islands) to share a virtual daily story time. Being read to is a pleasure that can be enjoyed at any age and from the feedback so far, adults are enjoying these stories as much as the children. Bonny had the idea to record herself reading to her class virtually as she was missing the face-to-face story reading that would typically conclude a school day in normal circumstances. We thought we’d share that joy with you, giving children something to focus on and parents a quick breather and distraction.

We’re also developing an adult learning section, specifically designed with people wanting to upskill in mind. Now is the ideal time for evaluating what new learning and skills would be valuable to develop for future use.

If you’re looking for some well-needed respite from the pressures of daily life right now, head over to the Learning Hub to see what’s available.

Keep checking back as we will regularly add new content to inform, inspire, educate and entertain.
